Field Recording: Meal Worm on the Move

After recording the whole dish of our bearded dragon’s meal worms a few weeks ago I wanted to record a single meal worm walking around. I used a pair of my contact mics attached to an aluminum bread tin, and the Dual OPA Impedance Buffer to bring it to life. I don’t like to do a whole lot of post processing, what you hear is what was recorded.

A fun little recording. I had to turn off our ice maker, and unplug the refrigerator as well wait between air planes. The OPA Impedance Buffer make the contact mics very sensitive. Loud neighbors or even a playful cat can get picked up if you are not paying close attention.
