I scored a super clean Yamaha DD-5 this morning at one of my favorite local swap meets. Box, adapter, sticks, manual, and all. The box is a little worse for wear but it does not matter cause the previous owner used it to keep this thing pristine.
I have not opened up one of these babies before but my buddy JMM has done a couple and I recall seeing XDUGEF with one at a work shop a few years back. I have bent the DD-6 and DD-7 previously, so I’m sure this will be much the same. As always stay posted for pics of the innards, bend points, and more.

So far I have found 1 video out (simple speaker connection to an RCA jack, much like for audio out on some things), multiple distortions and glitches, ie. It seems one side of the chip manages to make cross connections in a more distorted manner while the other side tends make more glitched out sounds that tend to ramble on. When they are crossed you of course are getting distorted rambling on type bends. GREAT STUFF! This would be a perfect target for novice bender looking for GIGANTIC SOUND.
I have yet to decide if I am going to use rotary switches, a patch box, or an external controller with everything.
